What does a Bachelor in Interdisciplinary Studies mean exactly?

To me, Interdisciplinary Studies is the optimal degree choice for young professionals who value a well-rounded curriculum without the fluff of mandatory gen-eds. I often refer to it as my "DIY degree" because I essentially mapped out and justified an entirely unique degree on the premise that I wouldn't settle on studying something that A) I wasn't passionate about and B) wouldn't benefit my future career. After switching over to the BIS Program from VCU's Robertson School's Public Relations program, I decided on combining English and Media Studies. These two disciplines have helped me gain publishing knowledge, social media expertise, journalistic capabilities, and graphic design experience that have made me confident in my abilities, not only as a writer, but as a future employee and coworker as well.
